Monasterio de Santa Catalina, Arequipa. PERU

Santa Catalina is a Monastery of nuns of the Dominican order, built in the 16th and 17th centuries. It’s a huge complex, like a small village, with an intricate structure composed by countless small squares, patios and alleys. It’s characterized by its vividly blue and red painted walls. Probably the most photogenic religious building I have ever visited, and unquestionably one of the many wonders of Peru. Summer 2009.

  1. These are lovely and really, really make me want to go there! The second shot is great. I'd buy a postcard of that...
