Photos taken in autumn 2010, during the flamingos’ French scale on their migratory way to the south. The flamingoes have chosen the most improbable location, as the pool is located between the noisy airport and a handful of chaotic highways.

Bruges under the Snow. BELGIUM
I took a
short three day trip to Flanders, in early 2001. I arrived to Bruges the
afternoon, strolled a bit through this beautiful city and the night it started
snowing. The next morning the city woke up covered with a marvelous white layer.
Just magic.

Palenque, Chiapas. MEXICO
Palenque (Bàak' in Modern Maya) was a Maya city state in southern Mexico close to the Usumacinta river, that flourished in the 7th century. As many other cities from the classical period, it was abandoned at some point of the 9th century. After its decline it was absorbed into the jungle, but its center has been excavated and restored and is now the most famous archaeological site of the Mexican state of Chiapas. Photos from 2000.

Machu Picchu. PERU
The Incas started building the Machu Picchu around the year 1400, but abandoned it as an official site for the Inca rulers a century later at the time of the Spanish Conquest. Although known locally, it was unknown to the outside world before being brought to international attention in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham. Since then, Machu Picchu has been known as one of the wonders of the world. Photos from summer 2009.
