Cirque de Gavarnie, Haut Pyrenées. FRANCE

This Unesco world heritage site is probably the most visited place this side of the mountains. Maybe because the access is relatively easy, but most probably because of its stunning beauty, particularly with the late afternoon sunlight. Summer 2012

Ghent. BELGIUM

Since I can remember, I always wanted to go to Ghent, probably because Castafiore, the opera diva from Tintin, spoke once of the city as something very romantic. It took many years but I finally made it in 2001. And I must say that the city IS indeed romantic, especially covered with snow. 

Uros Islands, Titicaca Lake. PERU

The Uros people live in self-fashioned floating islands in lake Titicaca. They use bundles of dried totora reeds to make reed boat and also to make the islands themselves. Photos from Summer 2009.

Scottish Breakfast. SCOTLAND

Yeah, every morning we ate all that, plus toasts, cheese, butter, coffee and all the continental stuff. I couldn’t believe I got used to that and I came to miss it at the end of my Scottish journey in 2008.

Arles. FRANCE

Arles has an impressive heritage, including a spectacular roman amphitheatre, several Romanesque churches and charming old streets, not to mention this is the city where Van Gogh lived and painted in 1888, up until his infamous accident. Photos from 2010.
