Phnom Penh. CAMBODIA

Nicknamed “The Pearl of Asia” in the 20s, the capital of Cambodia has a particular charm. Chaotic, noisy, and with infernal traffic, Phnom Penh is at the same time a cool and laid-back place, if that makes sense, in spite of the atrocities perpetrated there 30 years ago by the Khmer rouges. Many interesting things to see and definitely a worthy detour on any southeastern Asian travel. Photos taken in April-Mai 2012.

Banteay Srei. CAMBODIA

Banteay Srei is a 10 th century Cambodian temple, built of red sandstone, dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Not as huge as Angkor Thom or other Angkor sites, Banteay Srei stands out for its absolutely amazing wall carvings, to the point that this site is praised as one of the Jewels of Khmer Art.
